To be fair, once fixed the nozzle itself is fine. But, for $24 compared to other brands nozzles this nozzle leaks a lot in the cylinder head seal.
I bought two of these. The first one I used did not seal very well with a Lonex cylinder head. I replaced the included O-ring with one that was sized rather large and that fixed the leak. But, knowing there are cylinder heads with enlarged stems, I figured I would wait before I leave a review.
I tried adding an EPeS extra fit cylinder head into the mix. I would have been "okay" with this leak if the extra fit is the truly compatible component to this nozzle.
Shockingly, it still leaked. Replacing the included O-ring with a stock APS nozzle o-ring completely fixed the leak with no noticeable increase in friction.
$24 is a premium price for a nozzle, and I shouldn't have to worry about buying extra nozzle rings, or using donor rings from spare nozzles at this price point. Considering Brill sells another brand with a nozzle design like this, I would not add this one to my build list again.
I have not had a lot of time with this nozzle design. I bought it because I am hoping for some level of accuracy improvement. But, lets be honest. We have all built some pretty capable AEG's before, and I am a little skeptical this nozzle shape will offer such a significant improvement to consistency an accuracy.
All of my AEG's are +/- 1FPS, and they have been that way for a decade. So in terms of consistency, that is the minimum bar and this nozzle does meet that.
The other minimum bar is the seal. This nozzle actually falls short pretty badly compared to other, single seal nozzles.
That is why the 1*. If they want to charge $24, I better get $24. Shape and geometry mean nothing in the face of mediocre seal, especially if these nozzles cannot even seal against extra fit cylinder heads. That is ridiculous. KWA nozzles seal better than this.
Was it $50 wasted on my part? I hope not. I did resolve the leak with new seals. But that is not the point of the review. Ideally, and hopefully, feedback makes its way up the chain so slightly larger seals will be included in the future.
I am hopeful that I will see some accuracy improvement in this nozzle design, but airsoft has been plagued with gimmicks for a very long time. Time will tell if this nozzles design actually offers anything else of value. With diamond patch hop ups, and engagement distances of 300 feet or less: I am skeptical that this nozzle will be an innovation that is worth spending 4-8x more compared to a traditional nozzle.
