product details

The Lonex POM Piston Head is one of the highest quality Piston Heads on the market. I have used these extensively and they seal perfectly with every Cylinder I throw at them. This Piston Head is great for high-ROF set ups due to its lightweight construction and strong material. POM is an engineering thermoplastic that is used in precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction and dimensional stability. The POM material also gives this Piston Head high abrasion and heat resistance, as well as a low coefficient of friction.

This Piston Head has 6 equidistant, well-machined ports. The flat face of the Piston Head prolongs the life of any Sorbothane/Neoprene padding.

If you are going to use these Piston Heads in a high rate of fire gearbox, then I highly recommend removing the Thrust bearings. Removing the bearings will reduce the weight of the Piston Head from 8.9 grams to 5.2 grams, making the total assembly 42% lighter! If you do this, you will need a bearing spring guide to retain adequate spring torsion.

This piston head is decent. It lacks an o-ring that keeps it perfectly centered and prevents cylinder scratching. If you use this piston head with anything except a lonex cylinder you will experience drastic air seal issues. Even after relubrication and stretching the o-ring, there will still be a poor air seal.

Awesome piston head, now my go to for mid-high budget builds that need a light piston assembly. Air seal is perfect with this in all the cylinders I've tried, even the really wide JG/Echo1 ones. I replaced the o-ring with a Danco #14 for slightly lower friction. Only issue I see is that the ports had some pieces of POM in them from when it was machined, but that was easy to clean out.

The POM is light, but it looks and feels just like metal. Great piston head, very loud.
