product details
This is a nifty 3D-printed motor alignment tool created by Maekiii. Proper motor grip engagement is crucial in AEG's that use V2 Gearboxes, and unfortunately, some aftermarket grips do not give proper alignment. This tool shows the proper angle where the motor should be centered. Once the user finds the correct motor angle, the motor alignment can be corrected. The tool is installed in the gearbox so that it aligns itself with the bevel gear's bushings and the motor's axle opening. After the grip is installed, the motor plate and adjustment screw are removed. The motor angle is correct if the shaft of the tool is centered in the adjustment screw hole. It's recommended to verify the reading by testing the tool with both sides.

Useful but not very

It's a good concept for a product but it needs to be made of a better material, ideally metal. As the plastic it's currently made of is way too flexible and the product was bent right out of the packaging. I bent it back as much as I can but it will not be struly strait ever. This limits it's usefullness. I don't think BRILL's shipping is at fault for this, I think it just needs to be made from metal and not be so cheap.

Sorry for the inconvenience. It shouldn't have arrived bent. If you’re unsatisfied with the tool or would like to try a different one, we’re happy to offer a refund or replacement.

We did explore the possibility of producing these in stainless steel, but the production costs would have been very high.

This tool is absolutely amazing and should be in every techs tool kit. I have used this to aid in the perfect adjustment for the motor grip. Just because you use the same brand of gearbox with motor grip doesn't mean you wont have issues. I have discovered imperfections with G&P motor grips on G&P gearboxes. It allowed me to correct an SPR grip to where the pinion/bevel meshing was no longer audibly concerning. In another instance, during the shimming process using the half shell method, I found that the grip was preventing the pinion from reaching the bevel gear all the way. After adding a few shims to the motor grip screws, I could then achieve perfect meshing.
