product details

This shell has the split functionality but does not have the integrated Hop-Up unit. That being said, the shell is best for users who want the split functionality and also want to use any Hop-Up chamber that they please.

Retro ARMS is a Czech company that uses its own manufacturing facilities to produce high-grade Gearbox parts.

These Gearbox Shells are fully CNC machined from a block of 7075 T6 Grade Aluminum. The 7075 T6 Aluminum is very strong and can endure a ton of stress.

This shell is 100% aligned and has several features (besides its material) that make it stand out.

-Large grooves for 2.5 mm silicone wires

-An Accurate hole to match the Anti-Reversal Latch so the latch does not fall

-An accurate hole for the trigger -- won't jump even with strong springs.

-Perfectly aligned 8mm bushing holes for optimal gear meshing.

-The guide grooves for the piston are in one piece -- no jamming of the piston on the rear window.

-The groove under the trigger contacts avoids possible short circuits when using MOSFET switches.

-Micro-sized grooves on the pins that hold the trigger and spring shuttle feeder hangers. Avoids popping springs.

Comes with a non-bearing Retro QSC Spring guide.

Extreme quality. Jewel like and built like a tank. I was worried that there might be fitment issues with my G&P, but I had only two minor issues. 1) The buffer bolt is expecting a much longer spring guide than the QSC spring guide that comes with the Retroarms shell. I had to cut about 2/3" off my buffer tube bolt. 2) When putting it back in the receiver, you have to but the center guide pin in first (the pin above the trigger). Lastly, the Siegetek spring spacer has a diameter that will not fit through the QSC keyway / hole. I upgrade to a heavier spring for this DSG build instead. Assembly with a split gearbox and QSC is soooo luxurious. It's also very nice to be able to easily run and test the gearbox and work on the gun by removing the upper receiver. My motivation for this shell came from my attempt to build a DSG gearbox with a Siegetek gear set, 170 spring, Lonex cylinder kit, and a Gate Titan Mosfet in a G&P OEM shell. The G&P shell is a very nice one on its own. However, I was not able to get the OEM G&P gearbox back together after shimming and greasing because it was impossible to balance the reverse latch, trigger, and the M170 spring - the box flex apart. The OEM box also made it difficult to deal with all the wires from the Gate mosfet - not impossible, but one more challenge when assembling. The Retro Arms split box made assembly trivial, and it has a special wire guide area under the motor to protect the wiring from the pinion gear. The Gate Mosfet fit perfectly. The Lonex cylinder and head fit perfectly (someone mentioned that there might be cylinder compatibility issues, but I had none). A very expensive item relative to other options, but worth it if you are going to be messing around with gearbox builds and running big springs. I will buy another when they come back into stock. It seems that everyone is out of stock, and Retro Arms has stopped production while they upgrade/fix their CNC machine. (12/16/17)
