These Solink gears benefit from a complete helical design across the entire gear train.

Included is a D-type helical pinion gear, grub screw, and allen key for easier installation.

These gears have advantages over traditional spur (straight-cut) gears.

The angled teeth engage more gradually, causing them to run more smoothly and quietly. Because of this, these gears may provide a more desirable gear meshing noise when properly shimmed.

Additionally, due to their design, these gears may yield an increase in load capacity.

The advantages to a lighter weight design include reduced inertia, swifter start speed, and more rapid braking to a stop.

Note: these gears can increase axial load on bearings, as opposed to common straight-cut gears which primarily generate radial load. Although high-quality Airsoft bearings can tolerate some axial load and may work just fine, they aren't specifically made for handling significant axial loads.

Depending on the configuration, it may be advisable to change to solid bushings on some or all of the gear axles when using these gears.

Use of a high-quality adhesive like Loctite 638 or JB Weld is recommended for installing the pinion gear.

This gearset necessitates trimming of the tappet plate fin to at least 11mm. Using a metal rack piston is also required, and bonding the rack is highly recommended. A strong spring will need to be used to make up for the power loss and to prevent pre-engagement.

Some improvements include more aggressively chamfered gear edges (particularly on the step gear), which allow for smoother engagement and improve overall performance. Solink boasts a new axis design which improves gear concentricity.
