In some AEG’s, the motor can shift when in use. A properly sized motor tower ensures minimal movement and optimal pinion–bevel gear alignment under load.

This steel shim tape is ideal for wrapping motor towers to eliminate wobble. It’s significantly stronger and more stable than standard aluminum tape.

In some cases, the grip’s motor hole may need widening to accommodate a thicker motor tower.

Installation:

Take a 3 cm piece of tape and wrap it completely around the motor tower. Make sure that the tape does not overlap. Leave about 1 mm of space at the top (see product photo) to allow for a chamfer. Use a miniature flathead screwdriver to gently form the chamfer—this makes motor installation easier and helps the shim tape stay securely in place.

Typically, we don’t recommend shimming the motor tower to an extremely tight fit. Leave at least 0.1 mm of clearance to allow for easier motor installation.
